Agent Training & Directory
Agents play an important role in helping applicants obtain individual health benefits. With the new Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan-Washington State (PCIP-WA), individuals with pre-existing conditions have a new option for coverage if they have been uninsured for at least six months. The eligibility criteria, benefits, and application process for the new plan and the existing state high risk pool (WSHIP) can be difficult to understand. This is why we encourage applicants to use an agent who is knowledgeable about these programs when applying for coverage.
To facilitate this, our Agent Directory now lists agents who have reviewed both the WSHIP Agent Training Module and the PCIP-WA Agent Training Module and can assist individuals with the application process for both programs. The agent training modules include important information about each program. When viewed online, the modules allow you to click on links to quickly view more detailed information or download forms from our website. We hope you will find this helpful not only in your initial training but as an ongoing reference tool.
The Agent Directory will be sent by carriers to every applicant denied coverage, along with an Enrollment Packet for each program. The directory is also posted to our website. Agents in our directory will receive bulletins and/or other email communications from us. Fill out the Agent Directory Listing Form to add or update your listing. Mail the form to Agent Directory, PO Box 1090, Great Bend, KS 67530, fax the form to 620-792-0535 or send an email to agentinfo@wship.org.
Agent Commissions
A $100 fee will be paid to Washington State licensed insurance agents who assist applicants in filling out a PCIP-WA application. The Agent Information, Section 1 of the Application, must be completed and submitted by the agent in order for an agent fee to be paid. Agents must also submit a complete Form W-9 and a copy of their current State of Washington Agent License.
